$80 is a decent price. The Bman 2-8-0 is one of the better steam engines you can buy. I have one. It is smooth running, reliable, and nicely detailed. Be forwarned Bman has quality control issues and lemons do pop up.

I think you can do better than $80 with some patience. I have seen them go for less and for more. Don't forget the shipping... sometimes those bargains aren't so great after that uplift.

I don't think I paid quite that much for mine but I don't remember the total cost, nor where I bought it!

I think all model companies have issues to some extent.

I've got a Model Power HO set that I paid $40 for and it runs like a top.
Bought a $60 N scale set and the loco died after 5 laps. Still waiting an a replacement from the dealer.

I also just sent a Bachmann back to a seller since it couldn't pull more than 3 cars around my flat loop of track. On the other hand, I've got a U36-B that is one of my two best running locos.

The other is an undecorated Life-Like E8 A/B set that just eats up track like it's running on rocket fuel.

Shipping is 6 bucks + $2.00 insurance so no sweat there. $8.00 is a good deal for what the post office is charging now.

Still not sure about the $80.00
Hard to justify when my O gauge Beeps only cost $55.00 each.

I don't remember the seller, but there's an ebay store that deals in only Bachmann Spectrum products. Once Every two weeks, they list 40-50 locomotives on varying timed auctions and buy-it-now's. Their auctions never go over 5 days, and all start at $0.99.

Most of their 2-8-0's go for $35-50. If you haven't bought one yet, try searching ebay stores.
