You can call it whatever you want cause Tim Horton`s just laughed at us and said no way would they license the name for a toy!!:cry: We even offered to donate a portion to their youth hockey camps!

Let me know when you have this donut shop available for sale. I want one on my layout. It will definatley be a Timmies. I drink their coffee like cars drink gasoline.

Well if that is their attitude, maybe it should definitely NOT be named Tim Horton's, or be a "Dairie King"-type knock off... (Kim Thorton's???)

I can't really believe that they turned down 1) the chance to control the use of their image, and 2) donations to the kids' camps. hamr

Maybe you should try Second Cup and see what happens. Although their locations tend to blend a little better with the neighbourhoods they occupy, and there's no "corporate standard building" to be constructed.

Lets all remember, Tim Horton`s is owned by the American Company that also owns Wendy`s. Maybe they would have been interested if I was, say Athern, or Bachmann, Not little guys with a laser cutter in the frozen tundra of northern Ontario. Lets face it, my pockets ain`t real deep!

Passports:

For the record, passports are not yet required for Canadians and Americans travelling between the two countries by car. They do want to see some form of photo ID. However, if there's an emergency and you have to fly back, you will be severely hassled.
When the rules are finally imposed, I don't know if Canada will insist on the documentation as much as the States. We may end up with a lot of Americans denied re-entry into their own country.


Stripes: maybe you could cut a deal with some other hockey player? Tim's used to have a donut box that would make a G or O scale store.

The US and Canada are also working on some sort of high tech drivers license that will act like a passport. All your info will be on it. I read that in the Toronto Sun yesterday.

Stripes: maybe you could sell it with a generic name (David's Donuts?) and let the customer cut out a name from his favourite shop.
Somewhere I read a post on all the Coffee Time imitators and the variations they made on the original name -- possibly to do with disgruntled franchisees.

Metcalfe (in England) make a row of shops with a whole page of alternate signs; mine had one of them cut out and I wonder if they had printed a real name there.

Starbuck's has defined the taste of "good" coffee for many people the way McDonald's has defined the taste of a "good" hamburger.

I have never set foot in a Starbuck's and I never will. If they can't call their coffee small, medium and large like everyone else, they're too snooty for me.

I do love McDonald's Double Quarter Pounders though.
(Even if I make better burgers on my grill in the backyard. )
