A little interchange action

I added that line in my signature about the interchange between the Penn Central and my feelanced road a while ago but here's the first time I've shown it in action.

A Penn Central SD9 running a local pulls gons loaded with scap metal (automobiles chopped up by Sal's car shredder) from the auto salvage yard...

The PC local arrives at Williams Yard and prepares to drop off the gons on the interchange track....

Once the local has departed, Kings Port & Western Geep #707 rolls in to couple up with the gondolas....

...and takes them away to their eventual destination, a Basic Oxygen Furnace at Kings Port Steel.

Nice operation, there, Ralph. I like that big pile of tires in the scrapyard (got any N scale mosquitoes breeding in there?) and the multiple-track crossing is particularily nice. I know how much work is involved when there are turnouts in the pavement.:thumb: :thumb:

Do you use magnets for uncoupling, or picks?

I'm a hands on kind of brakeman and use the bamboo skewer picks Gary.
I still have some horn hook couplers and use a three sided mini file which works great as an uncoupling tool with those old style things.

Bigsteel, While I do have some scratchbuilt buildings to suggest a steel mill complex I don't have a BOF and simply drop the scrap gons at a small yard near the mill, letting my imagination complete the later moves. I don't seem to have many photos of that area any more but here's one. The yard that accepts scrap is behind that brick building and in front of the blast furnace towers. When I first created the scene I really hadn't thought much about realistic steel mill operations but maybe some day will revise it if possible.

I always had the impression you were an HO modeler. You know I'm a PC fan and always liked your work. If it's N, I like it even more.
