I've been wondering. Does anybody want to give any free stuff for an HO layout? I mean, I've heard the stories of these nice people giving newbies free equipment and a little track, and I wish that would happen to me. Soooo... anybody want to mail me anything, except for an envelope full of anthrax? Thanks!

I would advise against posting addresses or email addresses on an open forum. Use our PM system for that. Some of these bots use these forums to harvest addresses and you wind up with spam both here and at home, or worse yet, ID theft. Ya, a bit radical, but can't be too cautious.

You Never Know

This happened to me...see the pictures here starting on page 2 post #19....
http://forum.zealot.com/t117423/

I was in our local discount hobby store two weekends ago looking for N scale risers for my HO/N coffee table layout. I was standing in the aisle when this older couple walked by and I noticed him looking at model car kits. He walked up to me and asked if I was interested in model trains. I replied yes. He said he had a bunch of N scale stuff he would give me if I was interested. I said YES!!!!:-D He stated that he also had some HO but that he would probably keep that for his grandkids.

I called him up a few days later and drove out to his place. He gave me a box of N scale engines, cars, track, and stuff. He also gave me a box of HO with 2 engines, cars, track, and stuff PLUS a 4x8 sheet of plywood with the starting of an N layout. Talk about being pumped when I left. :-D:-D:-D:-D

It does happen........................

Maybe we should add a section called "The Dumpster" where free or unwanted stuff can be offered to interested members..

There's a computer forum I use that does something like that. It's a take something give something type deal, kind of like the penny holders at conveniance stores. You give something to somebody that needs something you don't use or want, then if you need something someone else has you take it off their hands.Good idea if you ask me.

CYberswap meet..........what a concept:mrgreen:

It's a pretty good idea actually.
Guys in my musician's forum are swapping instruments and giving away free junk all the time. I got a 2x15 bass cab with no speakers for free. I spent $150 for two new Eminance drivers and made one heck of a cabinet that would have sold for 5 times that new and probably double used.
