Gus, reload your avatar and it will be back to normal:).

Please hang in there folks, things WILL get better. Peter is working VERY HARD, and Mikey, Don, and us Mods are doing what we can to get the "bugs" worked out. the Gauge is a had gotton to be a BIG forum, so theres TONS to do to get things running smooth again. ALSO many NEW things/options will be on here that the "old Gauge" didnt have. once all the bugs are worked out, i am quite sure you will like the changes:).

Just be patiant folks, things WILL come together, we are going as fast as we can. THANKS!:)-Deano

I wonder if anyone else has noticed the "multiquote" feature yet?

It's the little box in the righthand side with the quotation marks and the plus sign on it. It's used to quote more than one post at a time. You click this button for every post you would like to quote and then hit the regular Reply button at the bottom of the page. When your reply box comes up, so will all the posts you clicked the multiquote button in. It comes in quite handy for long running discussions. :)

Steamhead, it's not a glitch. The new system knows which posts you've seen and doesn't include them in the new posts. You can find it in today's posts, which shows everything posted in the past 24 hours whether youv'e seen it or not.

Cannonball, yea, multi-quote is very cool! Thanks for mentioning it. There are quite a few little features like that, that I've forgotten to mention myself.

Thanks Deano & Peter...Just finding my way around the new Gauge...
BTW...That's a lovely baby in your avatar...I'm turned on to babies now that I'm a Granpa...(Funny how one generation changes your perspective...).

Could be that. Could also be that all the new features are pushing the limits on the CPU or RAM. Also, could be the hosting company's data center. If it continues, I'll definately figure out what's going on and resolve it.

BTW, if all of you big Ebay spenders click on the Ebay ads before you buy, we'll have plenty of funds to buy a speedy new server at Rackspace by the end of the summer.... (just kidding!). ;)

YES, i have noticed a real slowness at times, but thought it was because of all the work going on in the background. -Deano

Hey Guys,

I discovered The Gauge around a year and a half ago, and I have really come to enjoy the interractions with many of you who have interests similar to mine. The Gauge adds tremendously to my interest and motivation in this hobby, as I can use the forum as a sounding board, for answers to my questions, and for just showing off my ideas. :)

I have logged on to the new Gauge several times today, and I see that it is going to take me awhile to get used to it. As a firm believer in the "KISS" principle, I'm just a bit overwhelmed by the information overload at this point. Hopefully I will eventually figure out how to navigate around as well as I could before on the old Gauge.

To be honest, I am not happy with the new site... I suppose I am just resistant to change, and also lazy in that I don't want to learn how to get around in here all over again. But, I keep telling myself, The Gauge IS NOT what you see on the computer screen. The Gauge is THE PEOPLE who make it such a great place. And that is what will make me stay here and get used to the new scheme, and after awhile I'll be jumping back and forth to the things that interest me just like I did on the old Gauge.

Now, for the thing that annoys me the most: Having the advertisements on the left side of the screen is extremely distracting to me. Because we read left to right, I am sure some pyschologist figured out that the ads should be over there. Everytime we adjust our eyes back to the left, BAM! the ads are in our face again. It may not bother anyone else, but for me, it is really really distracting. HEY! I think I will get some tape and paper and just cover up about 2" on the left of the monitor! Seriously, it is driving me nuts. Anyone else notice this?

Anyway, it will take me awhile to get used to the new, so I amy not be posting a whole lot for the next several days.

Thanks for listening!
Gary

Is there any way to change the back ground color???? It is killing my eyes.... That is really the only complaint I have about the new forum.

I haven't heard anyone else say that.

Has anyone else experienced such slowness?

Yes, VERY much so. I have an 8mb Cable connection and it's SLOW. VERY, VERY slow, slower then dial up. Pages are taking on average 30-45 seconds to load.

Posting pictures

Are you trying to upload as an attachment?

Or, are you using the image tags to post a picture from another site?

Does it give you an error message? (if so, please post it)

This is Stripes, Tylers grandfather. When Tyler has tried to post his pictures in the advanced mode the whole post just does not show up in the thread. If he does it in the quick repy box the pictures post fine.
When I am using my username of stripes, I do not have this problem??? The pictures are off my photobucket album.
Thanks,

David and Tyler

I get two messages in my hotmail account that posts were made to Tylers thread about "My first building" Well Tyler and I made those posts! I go to that thread and the posts just are not there????
If I look at the menu for HO Trains, It shows the posts as being made!
How come I can not see them in the thread itself??? Is it me!!
And yes I am logged in!
