It's not rocket surgery
While I would not buy this particular set (maybe a John Deere, or other semi-rr-related theme -- maybe ;)) I think it is interesting that people still think of putting their image on a train set as a "collectible".

Even if I liked NASCAR (I don't) I think this sort of thing is silly. Just get a poster to stick on the wall.
Just goes to show that you can't please everybody... nahhhhh, I'll stop there.

I don't follow NASCAR either so I wouldn't be interested in this set,but the CAT set I've seen on E-Bay looks pretty neat.

Well, I did kinda like car no. 3, plus I think that dome car is awesome:D But getting Bachman's Mavis model is on the top of my 'engines to-get sometime in my life' listsign1

90% of the people that will buy that set will never take it out of the box to run..Most will keep it for a collectors item and in a few years that will sell it on E-bay for mega bucks.

We, on The Gauge, have often talked about how we need to get kids involved and how this could be a dying hobby. I think this is an excellent way to attract people and kids from other interest areas into the model railroad hobby. My mother recently bought my father, (a closet model railroader - keeps everything in the closet and takes it out on occasion), something very similar to this but with a John Deere theme. He loves it! He says that it is great because it is so simple to use and he can take it out, set it up on the dining room table, and then put it away in a very short amount of time. There is definitely a niche here but I can see how some could be appalled at the very thought. Each to his/her own. My older little boy would love something like this as he loves race cars and trains.

Those Hawthorne models are great!:cry: That is, if you want to pay $79.00 every six weeks for a single B-man car. Remember this includes shipping and handling, also, every six weeks. But, you must remember that you get a free Spectrum power-pack, and free B-man track, at least enough for a small oval.
wall1wall1wall1 Just don't ask me how I know all this. Call Hawthorne and see if they will give you the prices, and info on the type of engine and etc.
