Ron,
I'm not sure where you are located, but, I live on Long Island, and my son just left his job at a company called Softheon, they create web portals for the medical and insurance industries. He is a graphic designer, and they are looking for people, as a few just left along with my son. They seem to be a very nice company, he left because he had originally wanted to work for another L.I. based company where he had interned during his college years, and they finally had an opening and made him an offer he couldn't refuse, not because Softheon isn't great, and it was still a hard decision. Maybe you can check them out, I wish you the very best of luck, you're such a generous talented guy, I hope something comes along fast for you:)
I'll check it out, thanks! I currently live about 10 miles north of Cincinnati proper but am willing to relocate.

It has been a very hectic and busy this last week and a half for me.

I have a job!
I was hired with Bell & Howell as a Resident Service Technician. I have just moved to Davenport, Iowa, just arrived yesterday. I start work on Monday, September 12th. We are in a hotel (paid by B&H) so that we can house hunt with my wife.

I have lot to learn in the next little bit, also when we do find a place to live, we'll get our goods delivered and get everything put away where it needs to go. So my time with the forum will continue to be minimal, although I do check in and lurk once in a while.

Thanks for all the support messages. I am really blessed to be a part of this forum. The job I now have pays more, has better hours, no more business travel, and I am no longer salary (I'll get overtime! thumbsup).

Any forum members around the Davenport/Moline area?

Best Regards,

As always, both you and your family are in my thoughts and prayers.

Ron:

Glad to hear you've found a place. Longest I ever worked for an employer was 9 years. Most of my professional life was spent as a contract engineer. Don't really envy you Iowa as I grew up about 70 miles south of the Iowa-Missouri border about 35 miles west of Hannibal. Left in 1969 and haven't been back since. I hate 95% humidity at 95 degrees with no shade on the back of a tractor [no A/C on a 1920's Farmall F20].

From what I understand, Iowa has been blacktopped and is now a big parking lot. They've put in shaded walkways everywhere, and with all that Solar energy, they have A/C/cooling the place down in the day time................................or that was some place in Saudi Arabia, I get them confused. The one with the big sky, endless fields of grain, and it's still 1969 is Iowa, I think.

Just think Ron, you have the 1970's coming right around the corner!! I'm glad they are letting you come back tomorrow, otherwise, that would really suck, eh?!?

I think I would enjoy a place where time could slow down a bit.

Thank you all,
I really like the area here in Davenport, IA. Lots to offer. It's not small, but not ridiculously big either. Cost of living is relatively low, comparable with Hamilton, OH where we came from.

Today marks the end of temporary and the begging of a more permanent situation here in Davenport. I've been at my new job for two weeks now and have been living in a Hotel with my wife and dog. Tomorrow (Monday) our household goods are being delivered to our new home. We won't have much of a chance to start putting anything away as I have to leave at 5 am on Tuesday morning to drive to Omaha for my first business trip with Bell & Howell. My wife gets to come with me though!!!

We'll return to Davenport on Thursday morning and I'll spend a few hours at work there to get in an 8 hour day. Then we'll immediately leave for Ohio as my wife is helping our daughter with a wedding cake and cupcakes. We'll shoehorn in as much visiting as possible and head back to Davenport the following Monday as I have to be back to my "normal" job on Tuesday morning (6:30 am).

We're going to be busy for a while, she'll start getting the house put together and I'll help out after work.

But I hope that soon I can get back to the swing of things here at Zealot! Things are progressing smoothly.

Best Regards,
