Star Wars AT-ST build

Here is the build of Shunichi's AT-ST from https://starwarspapercraft.com/portfolio/at-st/
Being an intermediate model but being only my 4th build it cam be kind of daunting.
Too bad my pdf viewer doesnt translate which caused me to make some mistakes..but has also given me a few things to learn.
I did this using 110# paper (should have printed the barrels on 24# as they didnt want to roll and form properly - they actually unrolled on me after attaching them to their mounts which you will see in a later picture).
On the last 2 pics I attached the L shaped parts incorrectly and was lucky enough that I caught it in time to remove and correct it without having to start over.
I will hopefully have this completed this coming weekend.

Great build thread. I use 110 lb. all the time. If you take and roll it smaller than you need, will open up to the size you want, and start there. I use a piece of paper, and glue a tab lengthwise, which I also curve, that way, when I make the barrel, or masts, etc., thee parts line up and the seem almost disappears. 62 .lb paper also works well for Barrels. If you have too, you just double up on it. The model is coming out great, all you friends will want to pick it up, I am sure, and if their are kids around, expect the worst! :)

Well, this has ended up in the recycle bin. Too many mistakes which couldnt be recovered from.. great learning experience tho. Will try it again when I have a little more experience under my belt.

I am glad to hear that you are keeping a good attitude and not giving up.
One of the rules that I have established with myself pertaining to the way that I build, is that if I am building a particular model for the first time, I will build it "AS-IS". Meaning that I will not add any (additional) greebles or other detail during the build. That allows me to figure out how that model goes together, how much room I have to work with (if I want to recess detailed components). Then when I rebuild the model, I can add all of the detail and greebles that I want to. Here is a thread that I started a few years ago: Detailed Thunder Fighter Project I hope that this thread will (both) help and inspire you.

KEEP UP THE GOOD WORK!!!

Thanks. I am the same way, I want to build it as designed the first time (or 2) then as a learning experience then modify at a later time.
That link did provide alot of good info. Thanks again

I've done that with many of the models I have designed myself, for myself. It's almost a relief, you let it go, move on., Life is too short. :)
